The Versatile Blogger Award

Wow, I’m Shocked and Excited all at the same time!

Shocked because I have been blogging for only a short amount of time, and excited because, well who doesn’t get excited about an award when they’ve started something new!

I’ll go back to me starting, I’ve actually wanted to start a Blog for years, but as always life takes over, things get in the way and you forget for a while. In my case , five kids in 8 years and up until 2 years ago I had an extra 4 children living with me too, I’m like the child collector only not the creepy kind like the dude from Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang!

I would like to Thank Melanie who blogs over at Frasers Fun House, who nominated me for The Versatile Blogger Award on 9th January 2018, She has a lovely parenting blog with children’s book reviews, fabulous days out and great gift ideas! I am so grateful to be nominated after only 2-3 weeks into my blogging life. Go check her out!

So, what is the Versatile Blogger Award?

Blogger awards are a fun way for bloggers to show appreciation for other bloggers and their content. Blogging is harder work than it may look like from the outside, so it means the world when we are shown in any way that we are appreciated! The Versatile Blogger Award celebrates high quality, unique, and loving content. When nominated, the blogger can choose to accept the nomination and pass it on to 15 bloggers that they believe deserve a nomination as well.

The rules to accept this award are simple:

1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link their blog. There are millions of blogs out there, and somebody chose yours!

2. Nominate 15 bloggers to keep spreading the appreciation.

3. Share 7 facts about yourself.

So here goes: 7 facts about me, Laura from Directly Laura

1.I’m currently in house number 11 in 10 years, and due to move again very soon! And no I don’t have an obsession with collecting houses to go with the collection of children. haha! Just the joy’s of renting and not finding a decent enough house/landlord!

2. I’m a procrastinator and very good at putting off the things that NEED to be done!

3. My Favorite food is Chicken & Pasta – adventurous I know!

4. I’m more of an explorer than a beach bandit on holiday’s, I prefer walking around seeing sights than sitting on a beach in the heat. My Pale skin will vouch for me haha!

5. I get bored easily and have to keep myself busy – even if it’s not productively busy!

6. I’m a Gemini.

7. I had a Winnie the Pooh bedroom until I moved out of my parents house. 🙂

So there we have it, that’s a few facts about me… I’m sure you’ll learn more about me soon!

I’ve been looking for a challenge or two to do for 2018 since the beginning of December (because five kids, starting up a blog, packing and moving isn’t enough of a challenge for me in January alone) haha!

I first found the goodreads challenge which you basically set yourself a goal of how many books you will read in the year, so I’ve set myself a target of 30 books.

It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, I wanted something different!

Since 2016 when I started up my Online business, I’ve been working more on myself so my reads have been more on the personal development side and that is basically all I’ve been reading – it’s obviously not a bad thing to do, working on yourself, but you just know when you need something more…

I’ve missed the fantasy and thrillers, the Fairytale and true stories, the chance to be lost in another world – you know the ones – and the enticement of the book world is just too great to ignore for very long.

I found it!

I found exactly what I need to get me back into the world of books :-

The Popsugar Challenge!!

Not only is this going to grow my reading experience again, but I will be experiencing books I would never normally read, such as sports and feminism – if it’s the new age feminism stuff then, yuck!

I’m in love with the idea of the challenge and I’ve made a start with my reading challenge and my first book of choice is: The Colour of Magic written by Terry Pratchett, I love his books and I found 3 of his while packing the house up, all brand new I’d bought a couple of years back that I never got round to, so it was the perfect book to begin with.

The fact it falls under three of the categories helped – although I’ll not be cheating myself out of the challenge by marking one book as three – no point in doing it that way really is there?!

If you want to join me and many others in the Popsugar reading Challenge, here’s the list you’ll be needing for 2018

Have you joined in any challenges for 2018? Or even set your own? Let me know in the comments, I’m always looking for new things to get involved in.

Much Love

Emotional Abuse: The scars you can’t see are the hardest to heal.

liveout loud (16)

Unlike physical violence, the thing with emotional abuse is that you don’t always see it as it is usually until it’s too late, because, by the time you notice it for what it is, your usually in too deep.

You’ve already sunk into a depression and you are riddled with anxiety. You are usually left feeling lonely because over time you’ve neglected and lost (or so it seems) your relationships with friends and family through no fault of your own.

Some of the signs (but not limited to) of Emotional Abuse are:

  • Isolation from friends and family
  • Calls you “too sensitive” when you respond to abusive comments
  • Humiliates you, either alone or in front of others
  • *Gaslights you to make you doubt your sanity
  • Lacks respect for you and points out your mistakes
  • Blames you for his problems
  • Tries to control you and your behaviour
  • Belittles you
  • Has (extra-marital) affairs and becomes emotionally distant
  • Tells you your a bad parent or threatens to take away your children
  • Destroys your property or threatens to kill your pets
  • Not allowing you out alone, constant checking up or following you
  • Traps you in a room and doesn’t let you out
  • Makes all the decisions
  • Makes false allegations or endlessly making accusations

Emotional Abuse

Unlike domestic violence, there aren’t any external signs or damage to be viewed, that would give you and everyone else too much evidence that you were in an abusive relationship.

Emotional abusers enjoy the torment and will torture you from the inside, they get inside your head and heart and like to see you being destroyed by reducing your self-esteem and confidence and doubting yourself in order to make you increasingly reliant on them. It also makes it easier to manipulate you and convince the outside world that you are crazy, unstable or jealous.

**Many survivors of Emotional Abuse in relationships state that the impact of the abuse is worse than any physical violence they experienced, however, it was much more difficult to prove, to obtain protection, or even to get others to take them seriously.

*What is Gaslighting?

Gaslighting is a form of Emotional Abuse in which an abuser attempts to make you doubt your own recall or perception.

If you believe yourself to be in an abusive relationship please seek help as soon as possible. There are some helplines listed below if you’d like advice please don’t hesitate to contact them either on their website or free phone numbers: – 08081689111 – 08082000247 – 03003650112

Don’t suffer in silence.

Much Love
